pH Definition:
A common pH definition is: "a logarithmic scale, from 1 to 14, used to describe
the acidity or alkalinity of a solution". Blood in the human body should
be close to 7.4 on the pH scale. A pH level of less than 7 indicates an
acidic solution while a pH greater than 7 indicates an alkaline solution.
7 is the pH level of distilled water.
PH stands for "potential hydrogen". If your body is too acidic you do not
have enough oxygen available for your body cells to stay healthy. When our
body is getting enough minerals from our diet to stay alkaline, our blood
can function normally - delivering oxygen to the cells throughout our body,
and carrying away acidic waste to be disposed.
But if we struggle to keep our blood at pH level 7.4 it cannot pick up all
of the acidic waste, and fat cells are formed to store the acidic waste
instead.
Is Your pH Balanced?
Find Out By Testing
To maintain good health the body is constantly seeking to get rid of the
excess acids that irritate the tissues and deplete them of minerals. One
of the principal systems it uses for this purpose is the renal system (kidneys).
The normal rate of acid excretion through the kidneys gives urine a pH that
falls between 6.75 and 7.25.
By testing the degree of acidity of the urine, you can determine whether
your body is eliminating a normal quantity of acids. If the acid excretion
rate is higher than normal, the urinary pH will be more acidic. This low
urinary pH is also an indication that the body is saturated and therefore
in an acid state.
Another indicator of the overall pH balance in your body is the pH of your
saliva. When your body has the mineral reserves that it should, the abundance
of minerals will show up in a saliva ph test as a pH reading of 7.0 to 7.50.
A low saliva pH reading indicates that the mineral reserves in your body
are low, and are being used to buffer acids elsewhere in the body.
There is a strong correlation between the pH of the body's internal environment
and that of the urine and saliva: urine and saliva become acidic when the
body's internal environment becomes acidic.
You can discover the pH of these
fluids by using pHion pH Stix. These pH test strips are made specifically
to test saliva and urine, and are the most accurate and economical test
strips on the market

How do the pH test
strips work? The pH test can be done with saliva or urine:
● A saliva test should be done at least two hours after eating or
drinking, or first thing in the morning. Drop some fresh saliva in a
spoon (see the instruction sheet included in the package for detailed
descriptions), and dip the pH test strip into the saliva. Shake off
access.
● When testing urine, do not put pH test strip in the stream of urine,
since it may wash the active chemical substances from the strip. Only
two or three drops of urine are required on the pH test strip.
● The test strip color changes must be matched with the pH scale color
chart within about 15 seconds.
● This pH range 5.5-9.0, it does not change color when ph below 5.5 or
up 9.0
